FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Novel Mentorship?
My Novel Mentorship Programme is long-term, personalised support for fantasy writers who are committed to finishing a meaningful novel.
It combines live conversation, close engagement with your manuscript and ongoing guidance as your story develops. This is not just feedback on pages, it’s a collaborative and reflective process over time.
How is this different from Monthly Manuscript Feedback?
Monthly Manuscript Feedback is written-only and focused on a single chapter each month.
Novel Mentorship includes:
• live sessions
• deeper, ongoing engagement with the whole project
• space to think through decisions, doubts, and direction together
Novel Mentorship is for writers who want a thinking partner, sounding board, cheerleader, editor and guide, not just notes on the page.
What does the mentorship include?
Mentorship typically includes:
• One extended live session per month
• Ongoing manuscript feedback (biweekly of 3,000 words)
• Support with structure, worldbuilding, pacing, character arcs and revision
• Thoughtful guidance as your novel evolves and as you evolve as a writer
Details are mutually discussed and agreed upon before we begin, so expectations are clear on both sides.
What kind of feedback can I expect?
You can expect honest, story-focused feedback that respects your voice and your writing intentions.
I won’t impose formulas or rewrite your work for you.
I will ask questions, point out patterns, and help you see your story more clearly, even when that’s uncomfortable.
Is this accountability coaching?
Not in the productivity or pressure-based sense. I won’t set word-count targets or deadlines unless you explicitly want that kind of structure. The focus is on depth, clarity and integrity of the work, not speed.
Is this therapy or emotional support?
While writing can be both emotionally demanding and healing, this is professional creative coaching, not therapy or trauma processing, as I am – sadly – not a licensed therapist. However, life happens and does often inform our writing, so personal stuff will come up. As long as you are aware going into this that I’m no therapist.
Who is this mentorship for?
This is a good fit if you:
• are serious about writing a fantasy novel that matters to you
• are willing to engage deeply and honestly with your work
• value thoughtful conversation and long-term guidance
• are open to being challenged in service of the story
Who is this not for?
This may not be the right fit if you:
• want fast drafting challenges or strict productivity systems
• are looking mainly for affirmation or validation
• want someone else to “fix” the book for you
• are not ready to invest time, focus and money in the process
Is there a minimum commitment?
Yes. Novel Mentorship runs on a minimum 3-month commitment.
This ensures continuity and allows the work to develop beyond surface-level fixes.
What happens if we’re not a good fit?
Fit matters, so if, at any point, it becomes clear that the programme isn’t serving the work of either of us, we’ll discuss next steps openly and respectfully.
